In the facial area, especially in the lips, we often use filler materials called hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is actually a building block that is also found in our body and has water-retaining properties.
With the effect of age and environmental factors, when this substance decreases in the skin and subcutaneous tissue, it causes a series of changes that manifest themselves with volume loss. To explain simply, with filler injections we aim to increase the amount of this water-retaining molecule in our body.
The most frequently applied area is the lips. Voluminous lips proportional to your face can make you look more attractive. When we say voluminous lips, don’t immediately think of exaggerated lips; it is of course possible to give the natural lip appearance you need that does not look exaggerated with lip filler.
In addition to giving volume to the lips, lip filler is also used for shaping lip contour, eliminating lines above the lip, erasing deep lines on the lip, and correcting lip asymmetries.
Before the lip filler procedure, we apply local anesthetic creams. Afterwards, we deliver the filler material to the required depths and areas with small injections that can generally be called painless. The procedure duration is approximately 10-15 minutes. We can return to our normal life immediately afterwards. We see the effect of lip filler immediately. It may look more swollen at first, but don’t let this scare you, it will reach the planned level within 1-2 days. Two-stage treatment can be recommended for patients who are afraid of major changes. We do not prefer permanent filler applications on the lips in recent years. The permanence of lip filler containing hyaluronic acid is approximately 6-18 months. Afterwards, it completely disappears. Smoking, genetic factors and water consumption can cause changes during this period. Lip filler is a safe application but it also has risks. It is important for safety that you trust the physician performing this procedure and that the product used is a quality CE-certified product that has been known and used for a long time.
After lip filler application, hard chewing movements, excessive facial expressions and eating and drinking hot things are prohibited for at least 2 hours, lipstick should not be applied.
